This one-day program offers an intensive update in surgical advancements and innovations in Colorectal Surgery – highlighting the latest techniques and research findings, along with the sharing of concepts and knowledge that will shape Colorectal Surgery for the year ahead.  Your ‘one stop shop’ essential update will cover key areas of Colorectal Surgery – from Colorectal cancer management, IBD, and advancements in AI, to breaking down practical approaches to common Colorectal conundrums. The always-well-received ‘Consultants’ Corner’ will provide a program highlight, offering insights and practical approaches from experts in a roundtable format – stimulating important conversations and highlighting the sharing of knowledge to manage difficult cases – ultimately providing better clinical outcomes.

International Keynote Speaker

We are honoured to have Dr James Kinross – Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Imperial College NHS Trust joining us on the program to share his insights, particularly around gut microbiome and it’s role in colorectal cancer.

James is a senior lecturer in colorectal surgery and consultant surgeon at Imperial College London and a visiting professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He leads a research team defining how the microbiome causes colorectal cancer and how it may be engineered to improve operative outcomes. He works closely with the African Microbiome Institute to determine how diet/microbiome interactions cause western diseases such as cancer, and he is a Co-I on the Horizon 2020 funded GROWTH consortium studying how the microbiome influences anastomotic healing and surgical gut health. He cofounded the International Cancer Microbiome Consortium and is the published author of the book ‘Dark Matter’.

About the Sydney Colorectal Meeting

The Sydney Colorectal Meeting brings together the expertise and knowledge of two societies – Sydney Colorectal Surgical and the RACS Colon & Rectal Section for an intensive update in key areas of Colorectal Surgery.

Held annually, the program provides an important forum for the sharing of knowledge, forming friendships and networking. Surgical innovations and advancements in Colorectal Surgery in presented in a rapid-fire format allowing for important conversations and providing practical approaches to ‘real-world’ difficult and complex cases.

If you are a Specialist Consultant Colorectal and / or General Surgeon, Colorectal Post-Fellowship Trainee, or a surgical trainee interested in a Colorectal Surgery pathway, then this is a must-attend meeting.
